This idea of action research was received by the education world about 60 years ago today, in the United States. The idea was first introduced in 1946 by Kurt Levine. The term Action Research was first coined by Stephen Corey in 1957.

In Britain, Lawrence Steinhaus developed the idea of "Teacher as Researcher" in 1975. The idea of active research has spread around the world for the last two decades. Research only takes place in universities. The time has come to change the belief that research is done only by professors. Any conscious teacher can solve his problem by doing a little research. What is functional research? To understand what functional research is, let us examine its definitions given by experts in the field.

Action Research is a systematic ex-amination conducted by individuals or groups studying their own practices in search of sound answers to unsolved problems in their work and aimed at improving their own performance on their own jobs.
